SCHMITT - Kreiselpumpen 2010

New and fully automatic pump test bench installed

On 28.05.2010 the SCHMITT Centrifugal Pump company put a new and fully automatic pump test bench into operation. The measurements are in line with the IEC 41 standard. All the 1 and 3-phase AC voltage pumps of all frequencies available anywhere in the world can be tested. The new test bench enables the continued improvement of our product quality. At the same time, the exact measuring results are a source of important data for our research and development department.

Energy efficiency is also a major topic for pumps in the lower and medium pumping ranges. Which is why the Schmitt Centrifugal Pump Company already has state-of-the-art energy-saving motors of efficiency class IE3 available as optional drives for their chemical pumps. The low additional costs for pioneering IE motors will be amortised in less than 12 months when the pumps are in continuous operation.

“With a standard Schmitt pump, the extra costs for pioneering IE3 energy-saving motors will have been amortised in less than a year of continuous use,” says Klaus Nees, Managing Director of Schmitt-Kreiselpumpen.

New slide bearings made of sapphire and new impeller made of PFA

Slide bearings made of sapphire (Al2O3 )

The slide bearings for our MPN pump series are made of SiC (Silicon carbide), an approved and chemically resistant material with versatile application range. Although we only use highly purified SiC without free silicon, this material can reach its limits e.g. in the production of solar cells and wafers. Therefore, we have included new sapphire slide bearings in our product lineup. The slide bearings made of mono-crystalline sapphire can be used without any temperature limitations.
Worldwide there are only a few companies that can manufacture these bearings and meet required specifications and quality.
For extreme operating conditions, we recommend combination of sapphire bearings with our newly developed PFA impeller.

Impeller made of PFA (Perfluoralkoxy-copolymer)

The use of sapphire bearings enables processing of chemicals, which require an adaptation of the synthetic materials used in our pumps.
We have found this synthetic material in PFA, a material that is absolutely chemical resistant in almost all alkaline and acidic areas as well as in high temperature use. That meets the requirements of the wet process technology in the semiconductor industry.
